Description

Pelargonium X hortorum is a shrubby, succulent annual stemmed to 3' or more. Round or kidney-shaped leaves are velvety and hairy, soft to the touch, aromatic, with edges distinctly lobed and scalloped toothed. Pink, white or red flowers can be single or smaller than those of Pelargonium domesticum variety, but clusters bear more blossoms. Comes in many colors such as white, pink, red, salmon and bi-colored. Does best in full sun but will appreciate afternoon shade in warm, inland valleys. Water only when dry. It prefers fertile, well-draining, slightly acidic soil. Is not cold/frost hardy so it's treated as a colorful annual in certain areas. In frost-free areas, this plant may flower most of the year. Very easy to propagate from cuttings rooted in water.
